Dr. Johannes Steinbauer has been a German and European patent attorney since 2021. He has worked for the law firm Lederer & Keller as a patent attorney from 2021 to 2023 and was associated as Partner in 2023. Since January 1, 2024, he has been a partner of the merged law firm Kraus & Lederer. He is a trained chemist and has specialized in intellectual property rights in the pharmaceutical and chemical fields. Furthermore, he deals with the legal field of trademark protection.

Johannes Steinbauer studied chemistry at the University of Bayreuth until 2014. In 2018, he completed his doctorate at the Leibniz Institute for Catalysis e.V. at the University of Rostock. During his academic career, he focused in particular on catalysis, organic synthesis, CO2 chemistry and polymer chemistry. He completed his training as a patent attorney in an internationally oriented patent law firm in Munich, at the German Patent and Trademark Office and at the Federal Patent Court.

Johannes Steinbauer has broad experience in drafting patent applications and in patent grant proceedings before both the German Patent and Trademark Office and the European Patent Office. One focus of his work is in the area of opposition and opposition appeal proceedings before the European Patent Office.

Dr. Steinbauer’s hobbies include music and sport, and he is particularly active in a handball club and a table foosball club.
