Dr. Binder studied chemistry at the University of Bremen and completed his doctorate at the Technical University of Munich in the field of synthetic organic chemistry and catalysis. After a postdoctoral stay as a DAAD scholar at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Cambridge, USA, he completed his training as a patent attorney at an international patent law firm in Munich.

Dr. Binder was admitted as a German Patent Attorney in 2015 and as a European Patent Attorney in 2017. After completing his training as a German patent attorney, he joined Lederer & Keller in 2015, where he became a partner in 2019. Since 1 January 2024, he has been a partner at the merged law firm Kraus & Lederer.

Dr. Binder specializes in intellectual property rights in the chemical and pharmaceutical sector and has broad experience in drafting patent applications and in German and European patent grant proceedings. He also specializes in opposition and appeal proceedings before the European Patent Office.

In his spare time, Dr. Binder learns the piano, collects Beatles records and enjoys travelling to the Bavarian countryside.
